Particular focus is on developing business models and contracting models that facilitate the implementation of sector-integrated smart energy services and the deployment of a wide range of sustainable technologies (EE and DER, EVs, heat pumps, IoT controls, EE measures). The InEExS consortium brings together different market actors (utilities, energy communities, energy agencies, technology providers) using trust-building methods to connect their activities through distributed ledger technology and smart contracts.
The core concept of InEExS is to provide integrated energy services across sectors and carriers and to tokenize energy savings data in a public blockchain to facilitate collaboration between market segments and actors.
OFFIS is involved in the project in the development of the German Business Case 1 "Energy Performance contracting with Pay4Performance guarantees". OFFIS is developing a concept for the measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) of data in smart buildings. The MRV concept will be used to collect emissions data in these buildings, determine energy efficiency and process this data using blockchain technology. Ultimately, the aim is to incentivise consumers to save energy with the help of smart contracts. OFFIS is responsible for the technical implementation of Business Case 1. The MRV concept is anchored in Article 7 of the EED, which requires all EU member states to record greenhouse gas emissions. However, there has been little practical implementation of MRV concepts to date, which is why they are being trialled in the project.
