Poster Abstract: Circular Economy Approach for Data Center Components

BIB
Fernando Andres Penaherrera Vaca
This research evaluates the advantages and costs of circularity strategies for the end-of-life (EoL) of data center components. Specifically, the focus lies on evaluating the impacts of recovering critical and valuable materials from the variety of materials present in data centers. Recycling directives serve as a starting point for analyzing EoL processes. To address the complexities of recycling modeling in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), methodologies and indicators for evaluating recycling must be defined. Process chains of recycling are evaluated, considering different EoL chains and metal recovery technologies used in the industry. Inventories are compiled to assess the benefits and impacts of EoL processes on critical material sustainability.
