The project „Weisse Liste“, initiated by the German foundation `Bertelsmann Stiftung´, was aiming to create an Internet Portal for health patients. This portal allows patients to directly learn about different Health Care Providers. Information available includes the equipment, range of services, and quality of treatment of a particular provider and allows patients to make more informed choices about doctors, medical centres, and other health service providers. The information underlying this portal is extracted from various existing systems before processed for the presentation on the Internet Portal.
The R&D- Division Health developed an application that connects the different data sources. This application covers receiving, processing and handling of data from Quality Records of German hospitals and information gathered from questionnaires to patients and physicians. This integrated data is then processed and made available via the Internet Portal to allow patients to compare the different Health Care providers.
