This paper presents an approach to include the evaluation of a system’s resilience in the optimization of Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES). Using Adversarial Resilience Learning (ARL), we induce disturbances into solution candidates from the optimization in simulation and measure the impact of the disturbances using Figure of Merit (FOM) values. From those, we calculate a resilience score as the loss of performance. We repeat these experiments, analyze the statistical significance of the differences in resilience scores, and show that a statistically significant difference exists in the resilience of optimized HRESs. This demonstrates that more research is needed in the field, and we propose possible approaches for this future work.
